Memorial Day Parade of 2026

Board Members and Advisors of the Hancock County Museum took part in the Memorial Day Parade in New Cumberland, West Virginia on May 25, 2026. Alice Mitchell, a long time resident of New Cumberland was the Grand Marshall of the Parade.

Pam Riggi, also residing in New Cumberland, drove her Dodge Dakota in the parade which featured two high school bands, fire trucks, and many other organizations of Hancock County.

It was a beautiful day for the parade. The parade route started at Fuccy's Field and ended at the Fireman's Field. In observance of Memorial Day, New Cumberland started the day with a Mile Walk/Run. Memorial Day Services were held at the VFW Posts 3526 and the New Cumberland Cemetery.

A Special Visit from a Legend

On July 9, 2026 the Legendary Hancock County Bigfoot paid a special visit to the museum in search of history and knowledge of where he calls home.

As he toured the museum and signed the guest book, he marveled at the fine architecture and was careful not to bump his head heading up to the second floor.

His favorite parts of the museum were the dining room where he casually drank his afternoon tea, the study where he opened some of the archived books of Senator Marshall and of course the Parlor to tickle the ivories.

Many of the advisors and commissioners of the Museum came out to great him.
